Indulge in the Sweet Delight of Gyeongsang-do’s Traditional Jujube Dessert

Gyeongsang-do Jujube Dessert

This dish is a traditional dessert made by steaming jujube until soft, candied in sugar and honey, then topping it with roasted sesame. It is a Gyeongsang-do version of Daechucho, another dish featuring steamed jujube braised in sugar and honey. The jujube is washed in water and steamed with some alcohol added. Then, the sesame seeds are rubbed in water to peel the seeds and roast. The steamed jujube is kept in a syrup mixed with sugar, honey, and water, then served with roasted sesame as garnish. It is a dish where one can feel the sweet and moist flavors and fragrance of jujube berries in whole.
