Discover the Delightful Taste of Gompi: A Versatile Seaweed Delight
Gompi (Ecklonia stolonifera) is a porous and wide seaweed whose shape and form have led to it being used in wraps. It is in season during the winter and is best enjoyed as a sweet-and-sour salad with soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar. Gompi is washed under running water, blanched, and rinsed. Then, gompi is drained and sliced into optimal sizes and tossed with a sauce made from soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and sesame. Another way to enjoy this springy seaweed is to dip it in red chili paste with vinegar or mix it with cucumber, carrots, and onions in a fresh salad.
