Large snow crab, or daege, is salted and steamed in a pot. Remove the crab shells and eat the crab meat with red chili paste with vinegar. A spoonful of the savory and sweet crab meat will please your palate. Uljin and Yeongdeok of Gyeongsangbuk-do are known for quality snow crabs. The word daege is a combined word of dae (meaning bamboo) and ge (crab) since the crab legs resemble bamboo trees.
