Discover the Delightful World of Gangjeong: Traditional Korean Sweets

Gangjeong, traditional Korean sweets

These traditional sweets are made by puffing rice and barley, tossing them with honey or malt syrup, then letting the puffs cool. Called “Gangjeong” in Korean, these traditional sweets made with rice, barley, or glutinous rice were put onto banquet and memorial service tables in the past. Rice or barley can be puffed in a pressurized container to make the rice puffs, which can then be turned into a Gangjeong by adding sesame seeds, perilla seeds, and nuts and mixing honey or malt syrup. These crispy and sweet delights make for perfect snacks.
