Grandma’s Homemade Bean Rice Cake (콩버무리)

Discover the Delightful Beomuri: A Springtime Delight from Korea

This rice cake is made by mixing plenty of beans with nonglutinous rice powder. “Beomuri” refers to a dish where multiple ingredients are mixed. “Ssukbeomuri,” or Rice Cake with Mugwort, is a common springtime dish. “Kongbeomuri,” just like its cousin “Kongseolgi” (Snow White Rice Cake with Beans), can be eaten throughout the year. The rice powder is sieved through a fine sieve, mixed with salt and sugar, then added to the boiled black soybeans of the dough. Then, the dough is steamed to create this fluff and chewy rice cake. One can also include various other beans like cranberry beans, peas, red beans, and black-eyed peas for an additional boost in nutrition.
