A whole medium-sized chicken is cleaned and boiled with garlic. The word baeksuk refers to fish or meat boiled in water without seasoning. The whole chicken is boiled without cutting, then the meat is shredded and eaten with salt. The dish is somewhat similar to ginseng chicken soup but whole chicken soup has less broth and the taste is much milder.
