This rice cake is made by layering sweet rice powder and mung bean powder in a rice cake steamer. Mung beans have a fishy odor when uncooked, which quickly turns into a rich scent when steamed. Take a bite and let the rice cake melt softly away. Other ingredients often used for this dish include jujube, chestnuts, and manna lichen, chopped and spread out in layers. One can also put in boiled pumpkin or powdered purple sweet potato to add color and fragrance. They even add moisture and sweetness to the rice cake.
